Splinterlands Chaos Legion Continues To Attract Players

Splinterlands stole the thunder this week, with a huge audience and the final stages of the Chaos Legion card pack release. The Hive-based card battle game has seen tremendous success in the past seven days, as players battled to win the two newly released airdrop rewards cards.

Following closely behind SPLINTERLANDS this week we have virtual worlds like WorldWideWeb3, Decentraland, and The Sandbox. Impressively, new entries like Aavegotchi also made the cut.

Blockchain games have been at the forefront of crypto activity in the past several months. With this weekly article, DappRadar looks at the hottest gaming dapps. To compile this ranking, we’ve taken into account on-chain activity, NFT trading volumes, token valuations, and news and events surrounding each dapp.

Top 10 blockchain games this week

Splinterlands tops the chart this week with the most unique active wallets recorded among all gaming dapps in this ranking. More than 515.000 unique wallets connected to the game’s smart contracts in the past seven days.

Additionally, Splinterlands saw the end of Phase 2 of its Chaos Legion card pack sale. This means that lucky players will be airdropped two new special cards. Despite the dropping valuation of the native SPS token, Splinterlands takes the top spot once again, thanks to its growing popularity.

Axie Infinity is also climbing up in positions this week. The mobile-friendly play-to-earn game has seen close to $30 million in NFT trading in the past week. Axie also attracted 279.140 unique wallets to its smart contracts.

What boosted the Sky Mavis game to second place, however, was the fact that famous talk show host Joe Rogen gave the game a shout-out. This is no small feat, as Rogen is among the most popular hosts in the United States, and globally.

EOS-based virtual property trading game Upland makes it to the top three this week. While Upland has been a frequent name in the top gaming dapps charts, this is the highest position it’s ever held.

Upland had a rather successful week thanks to several important landmark sales, including that of the Plaza Hotel. Additionally, the real estate business seems to be attracting more and more blockchain users. In the past seven days, Upland saw more than 230.000 unique active wallets connect to the platform.

As the metaverse continues to be among the most popular topics in the crypto space, virtual worlds are enjoying increased attention. WorldWideWeb3, for example, generated more than close to $4 million in NFT trading volume in the past seven days.

What’s more, the platform continues to announce new integrations for its community. The latest NFT collection that will become available as an avatar in WWW3 is Doodles. This is a big step in the right direction, as Doodles is one of the hottest collections since the beginning of 2022.

Another virtual world, combined with DeFi and play-to-earn takes the fifth spot this week. Aavegotchi is among the first virtual worlds built on the blockchain. However, this is the first time the game makes it to this top 10 list.

An important factor that pushed Aavegotchi’s stats this week is the upcoming wearable raffle event. This will be the biggest wearable event in the Aavegotchi ecosystem to date. Considering the size and importance of the raffle, it is no surprise that Aavegotchi generated close to a million dollars in NFT trading volume in the past seven days.

Alien Worlds frequently appears at the top of DappRadar Games rankings thanks to a huge community of players. This week, the Wax-based mining game ranks 6th with more than 340.000 unique active wallets registered.

As Alien Worlds continues to dominate the gaming space on Wax, competitors are gaining prominence. This increasingly competitive environment, combined with a 12% drop in the valuation of the game’s native token TLM has placed Alien Worlds towards the bottom of this week’s chart. Still, Alien Worlds is one of the most popular dapps in the gaming sector and its prominence in the space is undeniable.

Farsite is a Polygon-based DeFi-powered MMO that once again enters the top ten blockchain games of the week ranking. While FARSITE is still finding its footing among the gaming community, the platform has been pushing to create a complete ecosystem of functionalities for its players.

One of the latest announcements from the Farsite team is that the platform will integrate web3 domain names through Unstoppable Domains. This is an important step towards making Farsite accessible and easy to use. Interoperability is an important goal for many platforms in the industry, and Farsite is spearheading this movement.

The Sandbox is one of the leading virtual worlds at the moment, and its prominence among gamers is undeniable. The platform generated more than $13 million in NFT trading volume in the past seven days. However, this was not enough to push it to the top of the weekly games ranking.

Demand for virtual land in The Sandbox continues to grow with plots selling for thousands of dollars each week. Despite that, the platform’s native token SAND has been losing value lately, with a 7.5% drop in the past seven days alone. Still, The Sandbox held an important land sale this week. This helped the platform stay in the top blockchain games charts.

DeFi Kingdoms has been the talk of the town among the gaming community, and especially among the Harmony blockchain community. In the past couple of weekly rankings, DeFi Kingdoms consistently ranked as one of the top gaming dapps.

This week DeFi Kingdoms ranks towards the bottom of the chart. The platform’s native token JEWEL gained only 0.8% in valuation in the past seven days. This is a very small rise compared to previous weeks when JEWEL was on a gaining streak. Interestingly, the beginning of 2022 sees the token finding a stable valuation.

Last but not least this week, we have Mobox. The platform’s native token MBOX lost more than 12% of its price in the past seven days. Still, Mobox generated close to $2 million in NFT trading volume.

Additionally, Mobox attracted more than 192.000 unique active wallets to the game in the past week. This spike in activity helped the dapp enter the top 10 gaming dapps of the week. Bringing NFTs and yield farming to BINANCE Smart Chain, Mobox is one of the top gaming dapps on the chain.

Splinterlands reclaims the throne

Splinterlands has been featured frequently in the top 10 games ranking for months. However, in the past couple of weeks, the game did not manage to snatch the top spot. This week, the trend reversed, as the Chaos Legion campaign enters its final stages.

Virtual worlds are also going strong, as demand for digital land continues to fly high. WorldWideWeb3 managed to make it to the top 3 thanks to continuous efforts to bring in more communities through integrations.

DappRadar will continue monitoring the gaming space, as more players turn to blockchain-based gaming. Dapps like Splinterlands, Aavegotchi, and Mobox all bring different functionalities to the table, making the gaming space varied and exciting for different types of gamers.
