Hip-Hop Icon Nas Will Let Fans Own a Piece of His Music Via NFTs

Veteran American rapper and hip-hop legend Nas plans to release non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that allows fans to own part of his music. According to reports, Nas’ fans can own a stake in two of his songs, namely “Ultra Black” and “Rare.” Both tokens will be released on January 11th on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, users who buy and hold the award-winning rapper’s NFTs are also entitled to certain perks. Depending on the token in their possession, these perks may include a specific percentage of streaming royalty ownership. An official Twitter statement heralding the development read:

“Without further ado.. we’re honored to announce Hip Hop legend, innovator and entrepreneur @Nas will be the first artist to drop his music on royal on January.”

The first of Nas’ listed tracks on offer “Ultra Black” is from the New York rapper’s 2021 Grammy award-winning Album ‘King’s Disease.’ The second track “Rare” is from the succeeding album to King’s Disease’ dubbed ‘King’s Disease II.’ According to reports, ‘Ultra Black’ will have a limited supply of 760 tokens. On the other hand, its follow-up album ‘Rare’ will have 1,110 tokens in limited supply. Furthermore, NFT music platform Royal will facilitate the sale of the LDAs.

Last year, Nas reportedly was among those who invested in COINBASE when the leading crypto exchange went public.
