Fees WTF Airdrop Launches Today

Another day, another airdrop opportunity for the crypto community. This time from Ethereum gas fee tracking site Fees WTF. A site dedicated to showing Ethereum users their lifetime spend on blockchain transaction gas fees. The site, launched in 2019, allows users to connect either a WalletConnect or METAMASK wallet to access information on how much gas they spent, the average price of those transactions, how many failed, and the corresponding cost of those failures.

All Ethereum addresses that spent at least 0.05 ETH in gas fees by block 13916450, which occurred on the 1st January 2022, are eligible for the airdrop.

Stop. Look. Listen

However, the white paper contains a vital piece of information not made clear on the home page. Before claiming the airdrop, users are required to pay a service fee of 0.01 ETH, or around $33 at the time of writing, to reward the development team for the work they have performed on the project.

Always DYOR

This service fee will not be used to generate a financial return or any other benefit for airdrop claimers, token holders, or users of the Fees WTF platform, but will instead go directly to the development team and any referrer, if applicable. Arguably, the team is not overly concerned with how the token does upon launch as there will undoubtedly be millions of people eligible for the drop—generating a nice income for the Fees WTF team.

Nonetheless, it could be a win-win situation. This is how to check your eligibility for the airdrop.

How to claim WTF tokens

  1. Head over to https://fees.wtf/
  2. In the top right, you will see connect wallet – click it
  3. Connect to the site with either your MetaMask or WalletConnect wallet
  4. If you use both wallets and transact regularly through both, you can check them both for eligibility
  5. Once you connect your wallet, the site will instantly tell you how much gas you used

6. Click the claim button in the bottom left.

In this instance, the claimant is entitled to 258.581 WTF tokens. The token is not launched; therefore, there is no price information. Users need to weigh up the mentioned 0.01 ETH fee, any gas fees applicable in claiming and then decide if it’s worth it.

Airdrops represent an excellent way for organizations to get people more involved and excited about their service. Traditional marketing relies on convincing people to get involved, whereas, in crypto, people can be rewarded and then become active. As eluded to clearly in this article, users need to do their research and look at each airdrop carefully.
